Anna Dollfus, Baronness de Bourgoing by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, 1855 France
Winterhalter did a lot of portraits like this one, but he was good at them.  Why fix what ain’t broke?

In the last several months I have not been able to do much work, due to intense back pain, which escaleted when I took a tumble on a slope and came crashing down on a cement stepping stone.
You see I was eager to take a micro shot of one of my roses and was looking through the view finder rather then paying attention to where I was going. Bad idea!
Well, I finally had to cave in and have been making rounds from one doctor office to another,  having every part of my body scanned and probed.
Needless to say there has been absolutely no activity in the studio, because I can neither stand nor sit for any extended time. I crave to paint something, anything actually, but it is just not possible at this time. Isn’t it funny that how much one yearns for the things that are out of reach?
For now I have to hear what the MRI says and hopefully by Friday I will be able to come up with a new plan on how to get studio time in while dealing with this bad back.

Decorative items pair especially well with off-whites and creams and add a nice splash of color to any room that is very soothing to the eye. It often reminds me of a large body of water, like gazing at  a lake or the ocean making me feel soothed and relaxed. Raouls Dufy the Fauvist painter ones noted: “Blue is the only color which maintains it’s own character in all it’s tones…. It will aways stay blue!”

I love Graveyard sculptures, because often they have have a very solemn and sad feel to them. Besides being beautifully made, what attracts me to them is the emotional response that they call for, even after years of enduring the elements. This piece has developed such a lovely patina and I feel like I would love to paint it on a canvas someday.
